What are the best power tool combo kits in 2026?

Summary

Two outlets carry this card, and only one of them tested kits; no kit here has been tested by two. Bob Vila researched more than 40 kits and spent 30 hours testing the best-reviewed of them side by side: its testers counted the holes each drill made in a minute in wood and in concrete, ripped plywood, cut 2x4s and trimmed 4x4 posts with each circular saw, took every set on a building project for a workday, and weighed each tool; the guide was last updated on 2024-01-02 [src2]. Pro Tool Reviews' guide, by Clint DeBoer, recommends a kit for each kind of buyer and lists more under "Best Power Tool Combo Kits By Other Popular Brands", among them the Bosch and Ridgid R96263 kits here; it describes no test of the kits and draws on its reviewers' testing of the tools inside them — "I have personally used every one of these tools extensively," DeBoer writes of his top pick [src1]. Bob Vila has since reviewed the Ryobi ONE+ 8-Tool kit on its own, after more than a month of use [src3].

No kit takes a named role, because none has two independent tests. The DeWalt 20V MAX XR 6-Tool kit (DCK695P2) comes closest: it is the only kit both outlets name, but only Bob Vila tested it [src1, src2]. Bob Vila names it Best Brushless: its hammer drill "opened more holes faster than any of the other drills we tested", and its circular saw "was the only one in our lineup that could trim a 6×6 post with opposing cuts"; both tools were "significantly heavier than the competition", the saw was the only blade-right saw in the test, and the reciprocating saw "transferred more vibration through the handle" [src2]. Pro Tool Reviews recommends it as Best for Contractors — "it's hard to beat DeWalt's ergonomics" and "At around $869, this kit offers an excellent value" — with one reservation: these are DeWalt's "more value-oriented tools", not its flagships [src1].

The outlets disagree about the best kit overall. Pro Tool Reviews' Best Overall is the Milwaukee M18 FUEL 5-Tool Kit (3697-25), built around Milwaukee's fourth-generation 2904-20 hammer drill with AutoStop [src1]; Bob Vila did not test it. Bob Vila's Best Overall is a different Milwaukee set, the M18 18V 6-Tool Combo Kit, which pairs a brushless drill/driver and impact driver with a 6-1/2-inch circular saw, a Sawzall, a cut-off grinder and an oscillating multi-tool, all brushed, on two 2Ah batteries [src2]. Pro Tool Reviews does not name it, and this card does not list it because we cannot tell which kit Bob Vila tested: its text lists six tools including a 4-1/2-inch cut-off grinder, but its link goes to a Home Depot bundle of Milwaukee's 3692-22CT two-tool drill/impact kit with a Sawzall and a multi-tool (model numbers 2621-20, 2630-20 and 2626-20), whose title names no grinder [src2]. Read the Milwaukee 3697-25 below as Pro Tool Reviews' recommendation, with no test of the kit behind it.

Kits turn over faster than reviews. When we checked the makers' US sites on 2026-10-15, Ryobi marked the PSBCK06K, Pro Tool Reviews' pick for homeowners, as discontinued [src7]; Makita marked both Makita kits the outlets name — the XT614SX1 that Bob Vila tested and the XT507PT that Pro Tool Reviews lists — as discontinued [src10, src11]; and DeWalt, Flex, Skil and Milwaukee had no US page for the DCK695P2, the FXM601-2B, the CB7443-21 or the M12 FUEL 3497-25. Milwaukee still lists the 3697-25, now with a 2833-20 circular saw where Pro Tool Reviews describes the 2730-20 [src5, src1]. The table at the top of the page shows what Amazon offers today.

For a smaller budget, Bob Vila's picks are two brushed Ryobi ONE+ kits that Ryobi's own store was selling when we checked on 2026-10-15. The 4-Tool PCL1400K2, its Best Bang for the Buck, sold "at about half the price of the next cheapest kit we tested", though its 5-1/2-inch saw bound and hesitated in 2x4s after a few cuts [src2]; Ryobi listed it at $199.00 [src8]. The 8-Tool PCL1800K3N, its Best Entry-Level Kit, is "more than enough" for anyone not in the trades or doing serious DIY work most weekends, in its reviewer's words [src3]; Ryobi listed it at $529.00 [src9]. Neither was tested by a second outlet, so neither takes a named role, and this revision has no value or budget pick.

Of the other kits Bob Vila tested, its Best Compact, the Ridgid 18V SubCompact 8-Tool (R96262N), is in the table and has its own section below, without a link [src2]. Its Best Drill Set, the Craftsman V20 2-Tool kit, is a drill/driver and an impact driver only, which Bob Vila recommends "for those who only need a drill and driver set" [src2]; this card compares multi-tool kits, so it leaves drill sets to Best Cordless Drills.

This revision also corrects the earlier version of this card, which credited Bob Vila's findings to kits Bob Vila did not test. Bob Vila's line that its Milwaukee set "delivered the best combination of tool selection, price-to-value ratio, heavy-duty performance, operating comfort, and battery life" is about its M18 6-Tool set, not the 3697-25, and the earlier version attributed it to Pro Tool Reviews; Bob Vila's finding that "Makita battery life and charging time were best overall" is about the 3.0Ah six-piece kit it tested, not the XT612M [src2]. Pro Tool Reviews' best value is the Flex, not the Skil, which it names its pick for DIYers [src1]. Pro Tool Reviews lists the Ridgid R96263 with a hammer drill, an impact driver, a 7-1/4-inch circular saw, a reciprocating saw, a grinder and an oscillating multi-tool, not the compact tool set the earlier version described [src1]. Three kits are gone because neither outlet we read names them: the Craftsman V20 7-Tool CMCK700D2, the Makita XT612M and the DeWalt DCK694P2.

The only kit on this card that both outlets name: Bob Vila tested it side by side with other kits, and Pro Tool Reviews recommends it without describing a test of the kit, so it has one test behind it, not two [src1, src2]. Pro Tool Reviews lists a DCD996 hammer drill, DCF887 impact driver, DCS367 compact reciprocating saw, DCS570 circular saw, an LED light, two 5Ah batteries and a charger, and says the kit "includes a grinder that every Pro should have in their arsenal" [src1]. Bob Vila describes a three-speed 1/2-inch hammer drill with a metal ratcheting chuck, a 1/4-inch impact driver with three LEDs, a reciprocating saw with a four-position blade clamp, a 7-1/4-inch circular saw, a cut-off grinder with a paddle trigger and an LED work light — six brushless 20-volt tools, with two 5Ah batteries, a rapid charger and a bag [src2]. In Bob Vila's test the tools "consistently outworked the competition in terms of operating power, and often runtime as well": the hammer drill opened more holes faster than any other drill tested, and the circular saw was the only one that trimmed a 6x6 post with opposing cuts; the drill and saw were also "significantly heavier than the competition", the saw was the only blade-right saw tested, and the reciprocating saw, lighter than the top performer, "transferred more vibration through the handle" [src2]. Bob Vila calls it "a fantastic choice for big-time DIYers or construction pros who prioritize hard-working tools with extended battery life" [src2]. Pro Tool Reviews praises its "excellent ergonomics and power-to-weight ratio", lists it at $869 on Amazon with a 3-year warranty, and suggests another kit only if you want DeWalt's flagship tools [src1]. Pro Tool Reviews' Best Value: Flex 24V 6-Tool (FXM601-2B) — Check price

Pro Tool Reviews' Best Value: "this Flex 6-Tool combo kit delivers the goods like no other," and its tools "each consistently place at the top of our head-to-head testing" [src1]. The kit holds an FX1251 hammer drill, FX1351 impact driver, FX2141 7-1/4-inch circular saw, FX4111 oscillating multi-tool, FX2271 reciprocating saw and FX5111 LED work light, with a 2.5Ah and a 5.0Ah battery, a 160W rapid charger and a bag; Pro Tool Reviews lists it at $649, credits it with excellent runtime and a limited lifetime warranty (registration required), and suggests another kit if you want lighter tools [src1]. Its circular saw has since been tested on its own: in Pro Tool Reviews' 2026 head-to-head of 12 cordless circular saws the FX2141 scored 71 points, tenth of 12; it was third fastest through the double-stacked OSB rip at 13.35 seconds, but its sight lines were "among the worst in the group" [src4]. Bob Vila did not test this kit. Flex's US site had no page for the FXM601-2B when we checked on 2026-10-15.

"Milwaukee takes the top spot when it comes to getting a kit that delivers all of the key core flagship tools," Pro Tool Reviews writes: the fourth-generation 2904-20 hammer drill with AutoStop, the 2953-20 impact driver with tri-LED lighting and 2,000 in-lbs of peak torque, the 2821-20 SAWZALL with an adjustable shoe and tool-free blade changes, a 6-1/2-inch compact circular saw that "quickly cuts through two layers of plywood with no stalling", an LED work light and two 5Ah batteries, with a 5-year warranty [src1]. Pro Tool Reviews lists it at $849 and says "this isn't the cheapest combo kit you can find" [src1]. Milwaukee's page now lists the kit with a 2833-20 circular saw, where Pro Tool Reviews describes the 2730-20, and says its M18 system features "over 250 solutions" [src5, src1]. Bob Vila did not test this kit, and Pro Tool Reviews describes no test of the kit itself; check the seller in the table at the top before you buy.

For DIYers, Not Found on Skil's US Site (checked 2026-10-15): Skil PWRCore 20 Brushless 6-Tool (CB7443-21) — Check price

Pro Tool Reviews' pick for DIYers: a drill/driver, reciprocating saw, oscillating multi-tool, Bluetooth speaker, sander and spotlight, with a 2.0Ah and a 4.0Ah battery and an Auto PWRJUMP charger [src1]. The kit "includes just about everything except—oddly enough—an impact driver"; its batteries can charge a phone over USB-C, it carries a 5-year warranty, and Skil's brushless tools "punch way above their weight class in our testing", Pro Tool Reviews says, listing it at $220 [src1]. It was this card's value pick until this revision, but Pro Tool Reviews names it its pick for DIYers, not its value pick, and no outlet we read tested the kit. Skil's US store returned no result for CB7443-21 when we searched it on 2026-10-15.

Compact Kit for Homeowners, Discontinued at Ryobi (checked 2026-10-15): Ryobi ONE+ HP Compact Brushless 6-Tool (PSBCK06K) — Check price

Pro Tool Reviews' pick for homeowners: six compact brushless ONE+ HP tools — the PSBDD01 drill/driver, PSBID01 impact driver, PSBCS02 cut-off tool, PSBRA02 3/8-inch right-angle drill, PSBRS01 one-handed reciprocating saw and PSBIW01 3/8-inch impact wrench — with two 1.5Ah batteries, a charger and a bag, and a 3-year warranty [src1]. Pro Tool Reviews likes that it "prioritizes compactness over unnecessary features", lists it at $379, and suggests a kit with full-size saws for daily or contractor use [src1]. Ryobi marked it discontinued on its US site when we checked on 2026-10-15 [src7].

Pro Tool Reviews' Best 12V Kit, Not Listed on Milwaukee's US Site (checked 2026-10-15): Milwaukee M12 FUEL 5-Tool (3497-25)

Pro Tool Reviews' best 12V kit: a 3404-20 hammer drill, 3453-20 impact driver, 2526-20 oscillating multi-tool, an LED flashlight and a 2520-20 HACKZALL, with an XC 4.0Ah and a CP 2.0Ah battery, a charger and a bag, and a 5-year warranty [src1]. "M12 Fuel tools perform about as well (or better) than many first- and second-generation 18V lithium-ion power tools," Pro Tool Reviews says, and lists the kit at about $399 [src1]. Milwaukee's US site did not list the 3497-25 when we checked on 2026-10-15, so this card links no page for it.

For Ridgid Owners: Ridgid 18V 6-Tool (R96263) — See at The Home Depot

Pro Tool Reviews lists it under "Best Power Tool Combo Kits By Other Popular Brands", at $649, with an R86115 hammer drill, R862311 impact driver, R8657 7-1/4-inch circular saw, R8647 reciprocating saw, R86042 4-1/2-inch grinder and R86240 oscillating multi-tool, a 4.0Ah and a 2.0Ah MAX Output battery, and a 3-year warranty supplemented by a lifetime service agreement; "Performance isn't as high all-around as we see with Milwaukee and Makita" [src1]. Its circular saw scored 72 points, ninth of 12, in Pro Tool Reviews' 2026 cordless circular saw test, which called its performance "a bit of a mixed bag" [src4]. Only Pro Tool Reviews, of the outlets we read, names this kit, and it describes no test of it. The link goes to The Home Depot, a retailer, because Ridgid's own site refused our connection when we checked on 2026-10-15.

For Bosch Owners: Bosch 18V 4-Tool (GXL18V-496B22) — Check price

Bosch lists a DDS181A 1/2-inch drill/driver, a GDX18V-1600 two-in-one impact driver/wrench, a GSA18V-083 compact reciprocating saw and a GLI18V-300 work light, with two 2.0Ah SlimPack batteries and a charger; its 18V tools carry a five-year limited warranty and its batteries three years [src6]. Pro Tool Reviews, which lists the kit under "Best Power Tool Combo Kits By Other Popular Brands" and describes no test of it, loves "the ergonomics of Bosch power tools", says the impact driver "almost (almost!) makes this feel like a 5-tool kit", advises adding Bosch's circular saw, and lists the kit at $349: "you really can't go wrong if Bosch is your brand" [src1].

Bob Vila's Best Bang for the Buck: Ryobi ONE+ 4-Tool (PCL1400K2) — See at RYOBI

A 1/2-inch drill/driver, 1/4-inch impact driver, 5-1/2-inch circular saw and LED work light, all brushed, with a 1.5Ah and a 4Ah battery [src2, src8]. In Bob Vila's test it sold "at about half the price of the next cheapest kit we tested"; the drill and impact driver delivered similar working power to pricier kits but were among the heaviest, and the saw "was subject to binding and hesitation after only a few cuts" in 2x4s and drained its battery much faster than the other saws tested — Bob Vila suggests the 4Ah pack for the saw [src2]. Ryobi listed it at $199.00, down from $249.00, with a 3-year warranty when we checked on 2026-10-15 [src8].

Bob Vila's Best Entry-Level Kit: Ryobi ONE+ 8-Tool (PCL1800K3N) — See at RYOBI

Eight brushed tools — a drill/driver, impact driver, oscillating multi-tool, jigsaw, reciprocating saw, 5-1/2-inch circular saw, random orbital sander and flashlight — with two 4Ah batteries and one 1.5Ah [src3]. Bob Vila's reviewer used it for more than a month: the jigsaw cut curves "quickly, cleanly, and accurately", the multi-tool "performed nearly as well as my multi-tool from a different manufacturer that also costs more than twice as much", the sander "felt unwieldy and didn't have variable speeds", and the flashlight is "only included to bring the tool total to eight" [src3]. "If you're not in the trades or doing serious DIY work most weekends, this Ryobi kit will likely be more than enough for you for years to come," it concludes, noting an MSRP of $529.99 and that Home Depot "often marks it down below $370" during Ryobi Days sales [src3]. Ryobi listed it at $529.00 when we checked on 2026-10-15 [src9].

Bob Vila's Best Compact: Ridgid 18V SubCompact 8-Tool (R96262N)

Eight brushless subcompact tools — a 1/2-inch drill/driver, 1/4-inch impact driver, 6-1/2-inch circular saw, reciprocating saw, LED work light, 3-inch multi-material saw, 3/8-inch impact wrench and 3/8-inch right-angle drill — with one 4Ah and two 2Ah batteries, a charger and two tool bags [src2]. In Bob Vila's test "all of the Ridgid power tools delivered excellent runtime per charge and an outstanding ratio of power to weight"; "To be clear, this was not a heavy-duty kit, but each tool's compact size and ergonomic design were well complemented by a highly capable brushless motor," and Bob Vila lists as a con that "These subcompact tools are lightly built and less capable for heavy-duty projects" [src2]. No second outlet we read tested it. This card links no page for it: Ridgid's own site refused our connection when we checked on 2026-10-15.

• Kit contents change under the same model number. Milwaukee's page lists the 3697-25 with a 2833-20 circular saw where Pro Tool Reviews describes the 2730-20 [src5, src1]; confirm the tool list on the listing before you buy.
• Battery platforms do not mix: Bob Vila notes that batteries are not typically interchangeable between power tool brands [src2].
