Tom's Guide names the Sleep A30 the best sleep headphones overall: petite enough to sit flush whether you lie on your side, back or front, with very effective ANC and snore masking and about nine hours from the buds with ANC on, plus 45 hours in the case. Its complaints are the price, a fiddly sleep-detection feature and extra size that can cause discomfort. [src1] CNN Underscored, which slept with it and the Ozlo Sleepbuds for weeks, says it offers "the best combination of comfort, customization and noise cancellation of any model we've tested", with more fit options than any other model it tested and a white-noise mixer that layers up to three of almost 50 sounds. Android Police rates the Z30 7/10 and calls it "a good buy". Its reviewer, a side sleeper, had no pain or discomfort with the medium tips (one of four sizes, extra small to large), though a bud fell out on the one night the reviewer tried the smalls. [src14] The buds weigh 2.7g each and are rated to block up to 24dB passively — enough, in that review, to shut out a neighbour's barking dog and a TV in another room — with about eight hours per charge and two more charges in the case. [src14] There is no active noise cancellation, despite "Noise Cancelling" in the title of the Amazon listing this card links to, and no microphone, so the Z30 cannot take calls; it plays 1MORE's built-in sounds or anything you stream, though Android Police found the app's ambient sounds mediocre. [src1] Its full review, at 1.8g per bud, found the ANC outstanding, designed to remove low-frequency sounds such as snoring or bass through walls while still letting a morning alarm through. Sleep Foundation names the Smartbuds its best sleep technology: EEG sensors read your brain waves and adjust the audio to your sleep stage, soft foam tips expand once inserted, three tip sizes are included, and one charge lasts up to 9 hours. [src3] Forbes Vetted names them its best for sleep tracking, with six EEG sensors reporting slow-wave count, sleep efficiency and duration, and adaptive sounds such as pink noise that change as your brain waves shift. [src5] Three limits: they need an iPhone 12 or newer, they have no noise cancellation, and Forbes Vetted's side-sleeping tester struggled to get comfortable in them — they suit back and stomach sleepers better. If you want quiet with nothing playing, SoundGuys' best earplugs for sleeping are the Loop Quiet 2: simple reusable plugs that cut outside loudness by an average of 72.8% in its lab, with no batteries, apps or charging case. [src2] That is about the passive isolation SoundGuys measured on the Ozlo Sleepbuds 2 (71.3%). [src2, src7] The Quiet 2 Plus adds double ear tips but measured only marginally better (73.5%), so SoundGuys says most sleepers will be fine with the standard version. Mattress Clarity names the MAXROCK its best earbud headphones for sleeping: comfortable, stable and affordable at about $12, more comfortable than airline freebies, with grips around the speakers that keep them in place.
