America's Test Kitchen's winner: it "excelled in all our cooking tests: air frying, roasting, baking, broiling, and toasting foods perfectly", and its air-fryer basket gives nearly 175 square inches, enough for 3 pounds of chicken wings in one layer [src9]. Food Network's best overall: "This did every task perfectly and in a short amount of time", though its preheat cycle adds a few minutes; it takes a 9x13 casserole, a quarter sheet pan or a 5-quart Dutch oven [src3]. The trade-off is temperature: it overshoots the setting, which can dry out or burn baked goods, and it toasts evenly only with four slices, not its full six [src1, src2, src13]. TechGearLab scored it 79, third of 11 toaster ovens, and praised its near-perfect golden-brown toast, but found it runs hot, with a loud ticking timer [src11]. Food Network's testers got "perfectly crispy and golden" fries and grill marks on burgers and steak, but found the knobs imprecise, the grill plate slow to preheat (15 minutes or more) and hard to clean, and baked goods done in about 75% of the suggested time [src14]. Taste of Home tested it and did not pick it, after an undercooked cake [src5]. In RTINGS' review it fits four slices of toast, a 12-inch pizza or a small chicken on three rack positions, with no room for a 9x13 pan; it preheats quickly and keeps a uniform temperature through the chamber but undershoots the setting, and its toast comes out much darker on one side [src23]. Wirecutter suggests it for a small air fryer toaster oven: at roughly 16.5 by 16 by 10 inches it is one of the smallest models Wirecutter has tested, its temperature fluctuated just 2 degrees, and it made excellent fries, fluffy cake layers and a golden-brown roast chicken; it has no interior light, and for about $100 to $150 more the Breville Pro or the Cuisinart TOB-260N1NAS give much bigger capacities [src22]. The reservations are real: Wirecutter found it a lot smaller and less versatile than a full-size air fryer toaster oven and less able to hold its temperature, and because its fan cannot be turned off, a cake came out runny in the centre [src22]; America's Test Kitchen found its air frying, roasting and toasting decent but called it "a pain to use", with a stiff, ticking timer dial [src9]; TechGearLab scored it 65 of 100, tenth of 11, and lists it as running cool with subpar air frying [src11]. RTINGS' Choice: CHEF iQ MiniOven — Check price

RTINGS made it its top pick on September 10, 2026: very good air frying, with most fries crispy and few undercooked, even temperatures through the chamber that make it good for baking, room for a 13-inch pizza and three rack positions. Toasting is its weak point: slow, and less even when full. It works with CHEF iQ's separately sold iQ Sense thermometer and needs a CHEF iQ account to set up [src1, src16]. RTINGS is the only outlet we read that has tested it.

America's Test Kitchen's Best Buy: Instant Omni 18L Air Fryer Toaster Oven (140-4003-01) — Check price

America's Test Kitchen's Best Buy, which it lists as the Instant Oven 18L: it "does a great job of air frying, roasting, and broiling" at less than half the winner's price, but it is underpowered as a toaster, producing very light toast even on the darkest setting, and its small display alternates between time and temperature [src9]. America's Test Kitchen is the only outlet we read that recommends it.

These ovens are picks at one outlet each, or are no longer sold by their maker, so they hold no slot here. Consumer Reports lists four of its top-rated models, alphabetically and with its scores for members only: the DeLonghi EO141164M, GE G9OAAASSPSS, Ninja DCT401 and Ninja DCT821 [src4]. Wirecutter's runner-up is the Cuisinart Chef's Convection Toaster Oven TOB-260N1NAS, with results similar to the Breville Pro's for significantly less but no dedicated air-fry setting, and its budget pick the Cosori Original Air Fryer Toaster Oven CO130-AO, the best-performing model it tested under $225, whose rotisserie failed; the CO130-AO is a different model from the COSORI CS130-AO on this card, and the Instant Omni Plus 18L that Wirecutter found ran especially hot is a different model from the Instant Omni 18L above [src22].
